A local arts group will be holding a special gallery exhibition of their best works of the last two years.

Malpas Fabric Arts Group will be holding their biennial exhibition of work at The Watergate Centre on Saturday May 4.

Members of the group enjoy exploring a range of textile and fabric art techniques and will be submitting examples of their creations to be displayed on the day.

Works will include gifts and decorations, practical and decorative bags, embroidered pictures and hand dyed pieces.

The group have said that “all styles of traditional and modern patchwork quilts will be exhibited, some hand stitched and many machine sewn.

“These range in size from miniature studies, to king size bed quilts in a rainbow of colour schemes.

“Visitors will be welcome to browse the exhibits in the spacious and disabled friendly Watergate Centre.”

The group have been creating fabric for nearly 30 years after being formed at St Joseph’s in Malpas in 1999.

The group will be supported on the day by Shawbury craft shop, CraftNutters, who “specialise in premium cotton fabrics for quilting and crafting, as well as many other sewing  and needlecraft essentials”.

Tickets to attend the show will be £3 and the group have said that the admission includes entry to the raffle – the first prize for which will be “a wonderful quilt made by members”.

They have confirmed that seating will be available together with refreshments, a tombola and sales table.

Doors open on Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
