NORTH Shropshire cricket fans can look forward to the renewal of derbies between the area’s leading clubs next summer.

Wem’s relegation from the Birmingham Premier League will see them join Whitchurch in the Mansfield Sports Group Shropshire Premier League next season.

Whitchurch ended season to champions Ludlow last season, finishing just a point off the top, while local rivals Wem endured a nightmare campaign and registered just three wins to end the summer bottom of the second division of the Birmingham Premier League.

The sides will now battle it out for promotion and local bragging rights.

Ellesmere will be competing in the second division next summer.

Meanwhile further down the pyramid Wem IIs have been included in the third division while Whitchurch IIs will be in action division four.

Calverhall and Iscoyd and Fenns Bank will be competing in the fifth division next summer and will be each gunning for a promotion place.

Wem and Whitchurch will each be running third teams next summer.

Wem’s third string will be competing in the first division of the Sunday League while Whitchurch IIIs have been placed in the second division.
