ISAAC Vickery retained his West Midlands Cyclocross League title on Sunday.

The Wem youngster won the 12th round of the championship held at Walsall Arboretum.

The youngster took on a strong field of boys on a flat course and established a good lead.

On the second lap Isaac made the decision to sit up and take a breather and let himself be caught by the three riders behind.

With the riders jostling for the best position all four riders entered the last lap still with a chance to win.

With two corners and a long straight left to go, Micah Hayward-Johnston of the Wolverhampton Wheelers put the hammer down but Isaac was ready and his superior power enabled him to push hard round the outside of the last corner to take his 10th win of the season and secured the league title for the sixth straight year.

Isaac will travel to Bradford on January 2 to race in the Yorkshire Cyclocross League in Peel Park before the last race in the WMCCL on January 8th at Chillington Estate, Telford.

Isaac will have a couple of months rest before the start of the cross country mountain bike season.
