RAIL users in Whitchurch and Wem and in between are being warned of closures between Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Network Rail has announced a series of closures on lines across the UK and that includes the Crewe to Shrewsbury line, which passes through Wrenbury, Whitchurch, Press and Wem.

On Wednesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 28, the line between Crewe and Shrewsbury will be shut while repairs to a railway bridge are carried out.

Network Rail says it will have teams on the Western and Wales and Borders routes will be using 24 specialist engineering trains over the festive period across multiple work sites to deliver critical upgrades that will enhance performance, improve reliability and renew assets.
