The cheques were dished out by town mayor Councillor Anne Wignall to successful applicants who were at the town hall to receive the money when the council met on Monday, September 9.

Meanwhile, representatives from Ellesmere Town Scouts updated councillors on the progress of the new Scout Hut which will be completed during the autumn.

The £500 awarded by the town council will be spent on providing toilets in the new building – essential, particularly now that the number of scouts has grown and there is a waiting list.

Cllr Wignall added: “Councillors said they were looking forward to seeing a new community building added to the town’s facilities.”
