RESIDENTS in Malpas will be able to enjoy many attractions in May this year as the town prepares to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

The Coronation celebrations place from Friday, May 5 to Monday, May 8.

Dr Liane Smith CBE who recently received her award from the King said there will be plenty of activities for people to enjoy.

She said: "Malpas plans for the Coronation celebrations include something for everyone over the four day weekend.

"You can call in St Oswald’s church which will eb open from 10am to 4pm each day to see the special flower exhibition prepared by the Malpas Flower Club, the photography competition and enjoy tea and cakes.

"People will be able to stroll round the picturesque Malpas village whilst making your votes on the scarecrow trail.

"On Sunday May 7, festivities start at 11am with a special Coronation celebration service in St Oswald’s Church followed at 1pm with a famous 'Malpas Grand Parade' along the High Street to the Recreation Ground for the 'Malpas Country Fayre' at 1pm. Whitchurch Herald:

"There are lots of stalls, food outlets, cash bar and events including Morris dancing, sheep racing, hobby horse races, dog show and lots of children’s entertainments.

"The evening is rounded off with a band from 6.30pm and fireworks at 9.00pm.

"On Monday, May 8 there is a five kilometre fun run in the morning from 10am followed by a walking treasure hunt and afternoon teas in the marquee.

"There is room for everyone with a raffle drawn at 4pm.
