STAFF at Whitchurch Library have confirmed that it has partially reopened on Tuesday following flooding caused by heavy rains on Monday.

However, builders remain on site to continue working after the adverse weather conditions caused a flood, with staff taking to social media to explain that because of the water, the branch had to close.

A spokesperson from Whitchurch Library explained that the weather conditions, which impacted most of north Shropshire, were the cause of the flooding, which happened because of a leak in the roof.

They continued: "We are now partially opened, as there is a section of the site which had to be closed down.

"People can still come in and loan books, and we had one of our groups come in and we were still able to provide them with refreshments, but unfortunately our PCs are also down at the moment.

"Contractors are now taking care of it and we will fully be back soon."
