A SHROPSHIRE Council service has moved indoors as the winter months approach.

Shropshire Local aims to help those in more rural areas, where access to some services and support from the council can be more difficult for some people.

Although the service hits the open road in the summer months, it has returned to town libraries this week with dates now confirmed until the end of the year.

Cecilia Motley, Cabinet member for health (Integrated Care System) and communities, said: “Our Shropshire Local Mobile service has been very well received by local communities, many of who live in remote and rural parts of the county and who may struggle to connect to council services.

“Over the past year the team have been hitting the road, putting the council back into the community. With the aim of making the council more accessible and easier for those in remote communities to find out more about local support services, the team have been on hand in all weather conditions, to provide a listening ear and information to residents. They offer advice on how best to access services, and show how this can be done online.

OTHER NEWS:

“The team has met and helped hundreds of residents with their enquiries. We’ve also heard many examples from around the county of how the customer service team has assisted residents and facilitated meaningful and life-changing conversations.

“If you, or someone you know, would benefit from seeing one of our Shropshire Local advisers, please do come along to one of the libraries detailed on the list of locations. Our friendly advisers will be more than happy to help.”

The service will continue operate on the following dates between 10am and 2pm at the following libraries:

  • Thursday, October 13 – Wem Library
  • Tuesday, October 25 – Whitchurch Library
  • Thursday, November 24 – Whitchurch Library
  • Thursday, December 8 – Wem Library

Friendly and experienced team members will be on hand at each library to provide a listening ear, advice and information to residents.

Staff will talk to people about how people can access council services and services from other organisations, and can also offer advice on how to access these online.

Since Shropshire Local began it has received and dealt with nearly 750 enquiries from residents across the county.
