A WHITCHURCH author says a book she has published has been such a success that a sequel is already in the works.

In January, Marie Sarginson, 82 and of Liverpool Road, published 'Keeper of the Red Shawl', after several years of the story 'sitting there and looking at her'.

The book is a romantic novel, beginning in the Victorian Era and is based on the eventful life of Marie's grandmother, Frances and tells the tale of the four men who helped or hindered her path to freedom.

Since publishing the book has been incredibly well received, with Marie receiving praise in person, backed up by five-star ratings online.

With shops reopening, the book is now available to be purchased from BookShrop in Green End, but Marie says that her sights are now set on a sequel.

"I can't believe I have sold so many," said Marie.

"It's been amazing, so many people have loved it – people have told me they couldn't put it down.

"Because of lockdown I haven't been able to sell it physically unless people purchased it from me directly, but with the shops open its now available from BookShrop.

"I'm amazed it's done so well, people are now after a sequel.

"I left it in a good spot, but the publishers like it so much they said I need a sequel.

"I'm already up to chapter two, in another 12 months it should be ready."
