A PRIMARY school near Whitchurch has celebrated remarkable rankings in the Shropshire and Telford Primary Schools league tables.

Lower Heath CE Primary School and Nursery was placed fourth in the Shropshire and Telford Primary Schools league tables.

The tables rank approximately 250 primary schools, looking at the percentage of children who reach the expected standard in reading, writing and maths in the Year 6 Statutory Assessment Tests (SATs) for 2022-23.

Headteacher Helen Reynolds praised the dedication and hard work of the Lower Heath children, staff team and the strong links with families that had contributed to this exceptional position in the league tables.

She said: “For a small, rural primary school to be ranked this highly in Shropshire and Telford is an achievement to be proud of.

“We are delighted that everyone’s hard work has been recognised in this way.

“Whilst these league tables highlight the Year 6 SATs, the foundations of this learning begin much earlier with important input from parents before children start school and teachers and teaching assistants from each year group within the primary phase.

“This is one of the strengths of our Lower Heath family – working together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our children.

“We are very proud of our lovely school; Lower Heath is a very special place.”

As part of the Marches Academy Trust, Lower Heath believe in ‘Achievement through Caring’ and identifying individual talent in all children.

Mr Holt-Williams, Year 6 Leader said; “At Lower Heath, we believe very strongly that all children are special and unique with their own individual strengths.

“We work hard as a school community to support children to be the best version of themselves.

“Our school motto, ‘Let Your Light Shine’, really demonstrates this.”
