POLICE have confirmed that three suspects have been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of murdering a man in Wem before Christmas.

The 52-year-old was found at a home in Isherwoods Way, after police were called to the scene at about 4pm on Saturday, December 23.

Two men aged 51 and 41, and one woman aged 37, were arrested on suspicion of murder over the weekend.

A spokesperson from West Mercia police said: “Three people who were arrested in connection with the murder of a 52-year-old man in Wem have been released on police bail while enquiries continue.”

In a previous statement Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse reassured the local community that “there is no wider risk to the public”.

He said: “I understand that incidents of this nature can be alarming, but I would like to reassure the local community that there is no wider risk to the public.

“Officers will be in the area for the next couple of days whilst we investigate this incident.

"Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life”.
