FORMER business secretary, Sir Vince Cable will be in the region next month as a guest of North Shropshire MP Helen Morgan.

Sir Vince will be the guest speaker at her annual dinner which will take place in Soulton Hall near Wem on Saturday, July 1.

In addition to serving as Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills from 2010 to 2015, he served as leader of the Liberal Democrats from 2017 to 2019.

The former cabinet member will speak about government instability over the last two years and the rivalry between current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson, and Ms Morgan is pleased to be welcoming him.

She said: "Now more than ever, do we need a stable, effective government to tackle crises like ambulance delays, rocketing mortgage bills and the cost-of-living crisis.
