THE son of the Marquess of Cholmondeley has been honoured with a key role in the coronation of King Charles next month.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Lord Oliver Cholmondeley will be one of King Charles' Pages of Honour in the ceremony which will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, May 6.

The Marquess and his wife, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, have three children.

They spend most of the time in Houghton Hall in Norfolk and are close friends of the Prince and Princess of Wales, but remain the owners of Cholmondley Castle near Malpas.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on its website that Lord Oliver - the Marquess' second eldest child - would be one of the pages alongside Prince George.

It added: "Throughout the Coronation Service on Saturday, May 6 their Majesties will each be attended by four Pages of Honour.

"The Pages will form part of the procession through the Nave of Westminster Abbey. 

"The King’s Pages of Honour will be His Royal Highness Prince George of Wales, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay and Master Ralph Tollemache.

"The Queen Consort’s Pages of Honour will be Her Majesty’s grandsons, Master Gus and Master Louis Lopes and Master Freddy Parker Bowles, and Her Majesty’s great-nephew, Master Arthur Elliot."

Like his son, the Marquess of Cholmondeley was Page of Honour to the Queen in 1974 and went on to become Lord Great Chamberlain from 1990 to 2022.

He was recently appointed as Lord-in-Waiting to the King and will be invited to attend important royal and state events and represent King Charles at them.
