THE organisers of a charity tractor run near Whitchurch are gearing up to this year's event.

The Three Counties Charity Tractor Run is going to set off on Sunday, June 11 from Bronington and will raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

The route will take the tractors through Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.

Event organiser, Dan Beardmore spoke about how the event this year will be bigger and better.

He said: "We had a good turnout last year but we have stepped it up a gear this year by adding cars in.

"We had about 56 or 57 tractors last year and the year before that were had about 67.

"This year we are incorporating cars and other classic vehicles. By incorporating them, we will be getting a lot more people involved."

Dan also spoke about how important the air ambulance is to the area and why it will benefit once again from this year's event.

OTHER NEWS:

He said: "We decided to raise money for the air ambulance because we had a couple of incidents around us locally which required it.

"This is a farming community and we felt it is a good cause.

"We have always raised money for the air ambulance and hopefully will do it for another charity this year as well."

He continued: "The tractor drivers donate to the charity on the day and we asked for donations.

"We had donations from the local community and donation boxes.

"This year, it will be similar. Everyone who brings a classic vehicle will pay towards the charity.

"I think we've set it at £10 this year and there will be donation boxes and other things around the field.

"So people will always have the opportunity to donate. From a 50p coin, it all helps.

"We raised just over £1,000 last year and are hoping to beat that by a substantial amount this year."
