Pic to come:

Youngsters at Woodside Primary School in Oswestry marked the annual Sports Relief fundraiser with a visit from top GB athlete Oliver Townend yesterday (Monday).

The three-day eventer from Dudleston Heath visited the school to talk about his experiences of being a professional athlete and share what motivates him to inspire the pupils to get active, fundraise and make a difference for Sport Relief.

It will be followed by a week of fundraising activity at the school.

Adam Pugh, H=head of Year 3-4 said: "We’re delighted to be part of Sport Relief 2018 and that Oliver is coming along to visit the school.

"It’ll be fascinating for pupils to hear all about what it’s like to be a top athlete and how their fantastic fundraising efforts will help change lives both in the UK and all over the world."

Sport Relief runs until Friday and will be bringing the nation together to get active, raise money and change lives.

Money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to tackle the critical issues affecting vulnerable people across the UK and the world to live happier, healthier and safer lives.

Last year schools in the West Midlands region raised an incredible £692,971.10 to support Comic Relief projects, which help vulnerable people across the UK and the world to live happier, healthier and safer lives.
