Whitchurch skipper Alex Huxley led the way as his side demolished Albrighton on their travels on Saturday by a huge 204 runs.

Huxley scored a superb 108 in an outstanding 229-run partnership with Vansh Bajaj, who scored an excellent 129.

Bajaj’s innings contained 14 fours and one six, while Huxley also grabbed a maximum with 10 fours.

The pair dominated the Whitchurch batting card before Bajaj was bowled, but the skipper went on to complete his ton before he was trapped LBW.

Whitchurch finished 299-5 from their 50 overs against the league’s bottom side, and in reply, the Heath Road club wasted no time in getting the job done.

Bajaj was again the star man as he continued to chip away at Albrighton’s batting line up, taking a magnificent 6-7 from 12 overs as Whitchurch first constricted Albrighton of runs, and then picked them off.

Bajaj was ably supported by William Doerr who picked up 2-16 while Daniel Bowen and Sam Ellis grabbed one apiece.

The win leaves Whitchurch 14 points ahead of Ludlow – who travel to Heath Road on Saturday – in second and another eight ahead of Worfield.

A win at the weekend will all but seal Whitchurch’s return to the Birmingham league.

Whitchurch 2nd XI bowled Shelton seconds out for 91 as they claimed a four-wicket win.

Having put Shelton in to bat first Dave Weaver took 5-27 and Mike Ellis 3-13 to help skittle the visitors. Opener Martin Chambers top scoring with 32 for Shelton.

In reply, Whitchurch made hard work of the chase as Alan Jackson took 3-31 though an unbeaten 25 from Jack Batkin saw the hosts to their target in the 20th over with four wickets remaining.

The 3rd XI clash with Worfield on Sunday was called off.

n The 2nd XI travel to Cound for a 1pm start while on Sunday, the 3rd XI travel to Bomere Heath.
