Shropshire are aiming to finish the season on a high as they prepare to host Dorset in their final NCCA Championship fixture.

The three-day match begins on Sunday in Whitchurch and will be played at Whitchurch Cricket Club's Heath Road ground, with free admission for spectators throughout the game.

Harry Chandler of Wem and Whitchurch-based George McCormick of Bowdon are both named in the starting XI, alongside Roman Walker who is formerly of Oswestry.

Shropshire captain Charlie Home said: "Whitchurch as a club always look after us and we are looking forward to going back there."

The side shows three changes from the team that drew with Cheshire earlier this month.

Wellington wicketkeeper Morgan Ward and former Derbyshire all-rounder Connor Marshall will make their Championship debuts, while seamer Ben Roberts returns from injury.

They replace Ben Lees, Finn Jones, and Will Jenkins.

Home said: "Morgan Ward travelled with us last year as 12th man and this year has done really well for Wellington and Shrewsbury School.

"He was given an opportunity to play for Shropshire in the Twenty20 matches and showed what an exciting young prospect he is in those games, so we are pleased he will now be making his Championship debut."

Shropshire currently sit second in Western Division Two, nine points behind leaders Cornwall, who have a game in hand.

Dorset are third, three points behind Shropshire, and have two matches remaining.

Home said: "We played Dorset away last year and, looking at their team sheet, they are a similar side this season.

"They beat us last year and we know what a strong side they are, but looking at the XI we have for this game, I'm confident that we can change our fortunes around from last year and give them a good game and finish the season on a high."
