Whitchurch held their nerve to claim a 30‑run home win over Sentinel in their Shropshire Premier League opener on Saturday.
The hosts were lifted to a competitive total of 195 by Kunal Dabas (52), who anchored the innings, with useful support from Michael Robinson (24), Shafiq Ahmed (18), Azaad Rafiq (18) and Alex Heath (18), while 44 extras also proved significant as Whitchurch were bowled out in the 40th over.
Jonathan Evans (4-39) did most of the damage with the ball for Sentinel, backed up by tight spells from Nick Bateup (2-32), Jacob Binnersley (2-39), Alex Johnson (1-34) and Harry Thomas (1-32).
In reply, Sentinel slipped to 4-1 but were revived by Bateup (59), with handy contributions from Muhammad Zaheer (19), John Leah (23) and a cluster of starts down the order.
However, Whitchurch kept chipping away and eventually dismissed the visitors for 165, Dyson starring with a decisive burst (5-14) and receiving strong support from Kashif Hussain (2-35), Shabbir Khan (2-26), Alex Heath (1-43) and the economical Shafiq Ahmed (0-27).
Wem edged a high‑scoring thriller at Quatt, chasing down 228 to win by one wicket thanks to a stunning century from Abhishek Reddy (140).
Tom Whitney (76) underpinned Quatt’s 228 all out, sharing in useful stands with Alex Biddle (28), Todd Henderson (25), Scott Furber (24) and Ryan Wheldon (19), while 16 extras nudged them towards a competitive total.
Reddy (3-23) was outstanding with the ball for Wem, backed up by James Astley (3-44), with further wickets for Ralph Davies (1-48), Tom Astley (2-59) and Alex Ollerenshaw (1-45).
In reply, Wem slipped to 26-2 but Reddy took control with a superb, stroke‑filled 140, receiving key support from Martyn Davies (32) to keep the visitors in touch with the rate.
There was late drama as Quatt hit back through Henderson (3-46), Lunn (3-18) and Edwards (2-26), but Reddy stayed to the end alongside James Astley (1no) as Wem finished on 231-9 in the 41st over to seal a memorable one‑wicket success
