BROMLEY are working up a head of steam going into their home game against Wrexham tomorrow.

The Ravens go into the clash at Hayes Lane on the back of a four game unbeaten run in the National League.

Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Altrincham ensured Bromley remain without a league defeat in November with Neil Smith’s side now up to seventh in the table, just one place behind the Reds.

But it looked like the Ravens, who were knocked out of the FA Cup at the start of the month by Yeovil, had suffered a first defeat on Saturday since they lost 3-1 against Eastleigh on October 31.

Maidenhead played host to Bromley and the Magpies led 1-0 at the break before doubling their advantage at the start of the second half.

However, Smith’s side got themselves back into the game just before the hour mark when Reeco Hackett-Fairchild fired into the top corner from 20 yards

And defender Chris Bush salvaged a point deep into added time by scoring from the edge of the box to secure a 2-2 draw.

Smith was disappointed to “gift” Maidenhead their opening goal but he was delighted with the response from his players after trailing 2-0.

“First 45 minutes, I thought we were dominant,” said Smith.

“We had the two one-on-ones and we gifted them the goal with their first attempt at goal.

“Coming in at half-time I was disappointed because I thought we’d done well enough to go a goal up.

“And to give the goal away so early in the second half...a great finish but we should have cleared the ball better.

“Then to score the two great goals that we did. Reeco produces one, we know he has got it in him and I thought as soon as it left his foot it was a goal, ans Bushy right at the end.

“Great to equalise but I still thought we could have nicked it with the scramble in the box.”

Smith praised the character of his side as Bromley maintained their unbeaten away record this season.

“They kept believing, their heads never dropped,” he said.

“They kept on going. They would have run through a brick wall for each other.

“I think we are close to getting to where I want to be but full credit to the boys, they kept on going and it is a good draw but disappointing.

“Pleased in one respect because we came from 2-0 down but just disappointed that we gave that goal away early on.”

Bromley also came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Boreham Wood in the previous outing, prolific striker Michael Cheek earning a share of the spoils.

Smith knows his side can’t keep conceding the first goal if they want to win more games than they draw.

“We can’t keep giving goals away and then try to get a result back from a goal down,” he added.

Bromley extended the unbeaten run with former Chester striker James Alabi’s fourth minute strike enough to seal victory over Altrincham on Tuesday.

But the win came at a cost as Ben Williamson was shown a red card.

Smith is closing in on his 10 year anniversary since arriving at Hayes Lanes.

The 49-year-old joined the coaching staff at the start of the 2011-12 season and played his part as the Ravens were promoted to the fifth tier as National League South champions in 2014-15.

Following the departure of Mark Goldberg in February 2016, Smith took over as manager on an interim basis and after a successful run of games, he became Ravens boss in the April.
