A FORMER Ellesmere Hockey captain will fly out to China to represent Great Britain.

Caroline Hulme has been called up for the Great Britain Women's Hockey Elite Development team for a four team tournament against Australia, Germany and hosts China.

The defender, known as Caro, will fly out to Shanghai with the squad on Tuesday, October 30 and will stay in Changzhou where they will play their warm-up game against Jiangsu Province.

The squad is made up of players from all three Home Nations.

Caro is one of five players selected from Nottingham-based club Beeston who are back playing in the top flight of England Women's hockey this season.

Also named in the squad is Caro's fellow Shropshire-based player, Nicole Bowen, an England under-21 defender who plays for Exeter University and National League club ISCA.

Caro played as a County Junior with Nicole, before entering the Wales National Age Group system and going on to play for the Senior team this year.
