Over 2000 competitors, from across the world fought for titles in the largest Tae Kwon Do Championship to come to the UK.

Four students at the club brought home six medals between them, including a gold medal, a silver medal and four bronze medals.

Dexter McArdle was the youngest among the medals claiming third spot in the boy’s blue belt sparring.

Eight-year-old Rory Tinsley also claimed third spot in the boy’s blue belt hand power test.

Emma Slater picked up the silver medal in the ladies’ blue belt power test.

It was Carl Wilmott who brought back the most medals from the weekend as he became world champion in the men’s blue belt hand power test. And also claimed two bronze medals in men’s blue belt sparring and the men’s colour belt tag team sparring.

Carl Rudolf, instructor at the club, said: “All our members really raised their game for this competition, training hard and putting in extra effort in their own time.

“I’m very proud of all of them for competing at such a high level and all the success they have had, to bring back some medals is great.”

The club are currently looking for new members and sponsorships.
