Cricketer George McCormick is set to play a key role as Shropshire resumes their NCCA Twenty20 campaign.

Hailing from Whitchurch, the Bowdon CC ace remains in the squad as Shropshire heads to Sprowston Cricket Club near Norwich for the Super 12s stage on Sunday in the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA) T20 competition.

Shropshire will face Bedfordshire at 11am, with the winner progressing to play hosts Norfolk later in the day.

The victor of the second match will secure a spot in the NCCA T20 Finals Day at Wormsley on August 30.

Tom Fell will continue as captain, having led the side through the group stages in the absence of regular skipper Charlie Home due to injury.

Home said: "I've not been involved in this competition this season, but the lads have done brilliantly up until now, so we will go into Sunday with a lot of confidence and hopefully the team continue the good work from previous games."

Shropshire finished second in Group One with five wins from eight matches, just behind Staffordshire.

Their last meeting with Bedfordshire was in a One Day Trophy fixture in 2009, where Bedfordshire won by 43 runs.

The squad for this weekend includes several changes from the team that drew against Cheshire in the NCCA Championship earlier in the week.

McCormick, along with Fell, Seb Scott, and Joe Stanley, retains his place in the XI.

He is joined by Andre Bradford, Connor Marshall, Ravan Chahal, Sam Wisniewski, and Wellington seamer Ollie Smith.

Shifnal’s Rahul Kaushal and Jack Twigger make their first NCCA appearances of the season.

Home said: "It's great that Rahul is available after some successful games for Shropshire last season.

"He played well for Shifnal against Wolverhampton last Saturday, making 71 in the Birmingham League.

"We are also delighted to see Jack back in the Shropshire team for the first time in a while.

"He's a genuine all-rounder as he's a destructive batter, quality fielder and a very skilful bowler."

The full squad for the weekend is: Rahul Kaushal (Shifnal), Seb Scott (Shrewsbury), Tom Fell (Shifnal, captain), Andre Bradford (Hallam), Connor Marshall (Sandiacre Town), Jack Twigger (Shifnal), Joe Stanley (Wolverhampton), Ravan Chahal (Worfield), Sam Wisniewski (Wakefield Thornes), Ollie Smith (Wellington), and George McCormick (Bowdon).
