Whitchurch Cricket Club’s Liam O’Neill has been appointed as the Shropshire County Cricket League’s first official league administrator – a landmark role that underlines both his growing influence in the game and the league’s ambitions for the future.

The newly formalised position strengthens the SCCL’s administrative structure, supports clubs across the county and helps ensure competitions run smoothly, building on the work Liam has already been doing behind the scenes.

Chairman Howard Sanders welcomed the appointment, saying: “We are delighted to formally appoint O'Neill as the league’s first official administrator.

"Over the past period, Liam has demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism, and attention to detail in supporting the league and its clubs.

"This appointment not only recognises his efforts but also underlines our ambition to continue improving how the League operates for the benefit of all member clubs.”

Reflecting on the announcement, Liam O’Neill said: “I’m honoured to be formally appointed as the first SCCL league administrator.

"The SCCL plays a vital role in all areas of cricket across the county, and I’m committed to continuing to support our clubs, improve processes, and help the League move forward in a positive and professional manner.”

The creation of the post marks an important step in the SCCL’s drive for strong governance, transparency and ongoing development within recreational cricket – with a Whitchurch club man now at the heart of that progress.
