Whitchurch Alport Football Club has announced the next stage in its ongoing evolution.

The club now aim to form an under 23 set-up that will compete at Step 7 within the Salop Premier Leisure League.

A club spokesman said: “The integration of an under 23 mindset is the natural next step in the clubs evolution.

“It is designed to create a structured pathway from junior football into our first team following the addition of our new U18s set up, ensuring we continue to develop players who embody the Alport ethos and contribute to the long-term success of the club.

“This will be a gradual process, one that respects and builds upon the structure already present within the 1946 environment.

“The focus will be on nurturing talent step by step, giving players the time, support and experience required to thrive at senior level in the near future.

“Development of talent will become critical to our future plans and we must acknowledge and begin that process now. The formation of this pathway reflects our commitment to building a sustainable future for Alport.

“We look forward to working with the players, coaches, supporters and the wider community as we take this important step forward for 2025/26.”
