The road to Wembley continues for Alport after pulling of a remarkable comeback to beat Coventry Sphinx on penalties away in the fifth round of the FA Vase.

The Reds achieved a remarkable victory that leaves them two wins from the Wembley arch as this season's remarkable fa vase run goes on.

Alport were down to 10 men in the first half after right-back George Carpenter was sent off after being judged to have committed a handball.

Alport went 1-0 behind before Alex Hughes levelled to make the scores 1-1 before Sphinx hit back to go into half-time with a 3-1 lead.

In an incredible turn around, Hughes scored two goals to complete his hat-trick and to level the scores to 3-3 and take the game to penalties.

In the shootout, Ivan Urvantev put Alport ahead before Jack Griffiths missed his kick.

Jimmy Garlick scored his penalty and then luckily for Alport, Sphinx missed their spot kick leaving Alport the opportunity to win with the next penalty.Hughes then stepped up to fire Alport to their famous win and the quarter finals, in front of ecstatic travelling fans.
