LUKE Goddard has called on the people of Whitchurch to descend on the KMJ Mortgages Stadium as the Reds prepare for their date with destiny.

Alport thumped Lichfield City 4-1 on Saturday as Alex Hughes netted all four goals to maintain the buzz around the club ahead of their trip to Coventry Sphinx.

The clash at the Ryona Engineering Supplies Stadium represents the fifth round of the Buildbase FA Vase and the biggest national cup tie in the Shropshire club's history.

Before then the Reds have two home fixtures in the Midland Premier League with Haughmond visiting on Monday night before a visit from Stourport Swifts next Saturday.

Whitchurch Herald:

Alport boss Luke Goddard.

Manager Goddard called on supporters and townspeople to attend the two league games and help ensure his players went into the vase tie on February 12 with confidence high.

Goddard said after the victory over Lichfield: "I must credit the Alport faithful that travel to almost every game. A regular 30-50 faces even midweek with the travelling we do in this league and it’s hugely appreciated by the players and staff.

"Spread the word for the upcoming home games, this team deserve it."

Tickets for the supporters' bus sold out within 24 hours of going on sale with a second coach since booked.

A club spokesman said: "Don’t delay, get your seat booked and let’s make this massive away game into a home game with the Red Army in full voice."
