WEM cyclo-cross star Isaac Vickery recorded another two podium visits this month, despite failing to win for the first time this season.

Last week Isaac headed to the Heart of England Conference Centre, for round five of the Midlands Cyclo Cross U12 league.

Despite persistent rain in the days leading up to the race, the course itself was dry and a lack of technical sections did not favour Isaac.

Isaac was still able to lead much of the race, but was joined with two laps to go by a rider from the Gower Riders CC.

The rider in question tucked in behind Isaac and was able to rest his legs, so was able to beat Isaac to the line to take the win, forcing Isaac to settle for second.

Round six of the league saw Isaac travel to Baggeridge Country Park.

Again there was a lack of mud but undulating and varied terrain of the course was something Isaac enjoyed.

A poor start saw Isaac in second but he quickly cut inside the leader on a sharp bend to take control of the race.

On the first steep bank Isaac powered up it, but chaos ensued behind him.

The rider in third position dropped his chain while climbing the hill, causing all the riders behind him to have to get off and run rather than cycle.

Isaac was able to use this mayhem behind him to increase his lead, to take the chequered flag twenty minutes later.

With six rounds completed Isaac sits top of the league with 599 points out of a maximum 600 available.

Next weekend Isaac heads to University of Worcester, Lakeside Campus for round seven.
