Whitchurch Alport's FA Cup adventure came to an end with a brave 3-1 defeat at Northern Premier League side Belper Town.

Joe Minshall had the travelling faithful on their feet inside the opening four minutes after blasting home following Alex Hughes' corner.

The lead did not last long and just four minutes later Tom Wilson capitalised on some indecisive defending in the Alport ranks.

Wilson headed home two minutes later to complete Belper's comeback and a frantic opening spell.

The cup tie settled with the home side bossing possession while Alport continued to carve openings with Josh Lane curling a free-kick just wide after half an hour.

However Alport were left with a mountain to climb when Jonathan Margetts added his side's third on the stroke of half-time.

Margetts had the chance to put the tie to bed early in the second-half only for Alport goalkeeper Mason Springthorpe to deny him from the penalty spot.

Springthorpe continued to keep his side in the contest with several saves while Hughes posed Alport's chief threat and forced home goalkeeper Myles Wright into action with 12 minutes remaining.

Alport dominated the final stages as Temiloluwa Ajibola fired wide before Ivan Urvantev stung the palms of Wright before the referee sounded the end of their cup adventure.

Elsewhere Ellesmere Rangers were on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat at home to Brocton in the North West Counties Southern League.

Cameron Jackson struck twice with Adam Weldon completing the scoring on a day to forget for Rangers.

Meanwhile Wem Town suffered an 11-1 defeat at home to Newport Town in the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League campaign while Prees United celebrated their first point of the season with a 3-3 draw at home to Church Stretton Town.
