WHITCHURCH Alport have bolstered their squad for the new Midlands Football league Premier Division adventure with the signing of a new defender.
The Reds have welcomed full back George Carpenter to Yockings Park after a long-term admiration for the player from boss Luke Goddard.
The 25-year-old had been a long term target for Goddard and the manager admitted he was delighted to finally bring him to Whitchurch.
“We’ve tried to sign Carpy for a few years," he said.
"Around this area, he is the best around.
"Heading into this new league, he fits perfectly with the experience of the division.
"(He is) a top lad on and off the pitch who I know will play a big part in this year's ambitions.”
