A 10-YEAR-OLD from Wem will cycle 100 miles in a single day for charity later this year.

The challenge is being undertaken by Isaac Vickery, in honour of his grandad Christopher Hudson, a volunteer for Hope House Children’s Hospice.

In August, the charity is running an event, challenging people to ride 100 miles over the course of the month.

But Isaac, who is a star cyclo-cross rider, is aiming to complete the challenge in one day.

"My grandad, Christopher Hudson, has volunteered for Hope House for the last nine years," explained Isaac.

"This is his final year with Hope House and I wanted to do something for the charity in his honour.

“I am a 10-year-old boy who loves to cycle and so it made sense to take part in the Hope House event.

"However, rather than do a lot of small rides to achieve 100 miles I thought I would ride 100 miles in a day from my house in Wem and include Whitchurch in my route. “

Isaac says his mission will take around 10 hours to complete and he will be accompanied by his 11-year-old friend Joe Wooliscroft.

He added: "It is a long way and I will need to cycle for approximately 10 hours to complete the ride.

"My dad won't let me do the ride on my own so I have asked a friend Joe to ride with me.

"I have set up a Just Giving website so if you wanted to donate to Hope House who provide nursing and end of life care to local children then you could, the web address is bit.ly/isaac100mileride"
