FOR those who enjoy their days hot then June has surely not disappointed so far.

Certainly the warmer weather makes the cold and dark winter seem a long time ago.

While just a few months ago we were concerned with the roads being gritted for the few who were allowed to use them in lockdown, we now find ourselves with our windows wide open and fans switched on.

Of course the start of the European Championships and Copa America will offer many some respite from the worries of the world.

While for others the constant echo of the sounds of football in empty stadiums will surely begin to grate before the month is out.

Thankfully respite is at hand in the great outdoors.

For June is a spectacular time of year.

It is a time when we first put on our shorts and T-shirts and, in some cases, even brave to wear sandals or flip flops.

Some of us may head to the beach, others may go for a walk in the country.

The majority will simply enjoy the pleasures of their own garden.

Soon we will be smelling the first barbecues of the year, if we have not already, as people venture outdoors with greater appreciation than ever before.

Hopefully people will remember to leave the lands they venture as they found it and not leave their litter or dog mess behind.

Remember the summer is everyone’s.
