Wem Athletic welcome Wem Town Reserves to their Thomas Adams School ground for the first ever meeting.

Joint-manager Sam Northwood relished the derby clash and hoped football fans would make the trip and make the game an occasion with the match kicking off at 10.30am on Sunday, November 5th and sponsored by Ashgrove School Of Motoring.

He said: “Through speaking to the relevant people, we have been told that this will be the first game between two clubs called Wem since the mid 1970s.

“There have been teams played in Wem under several different pubs, but it will be the first occasion for decades where two Wem clubs meet.

“The club have a hard working committee who give up their spare time supporting the club where there are a wide range of different job roles. We have been supporting local businesses and will continue to do so.

“We have been well supported by businesses in the area and are grateful to are CRF UK LTD, HJ Lea Oakes, Wem Rotary and District Club, Hawkestone Arms Pub, CG Sports Therapy, Let Loose Dog Park, Halo Hair and Beauty, Aaron W Evans, DKL Rubber, Barry Mantle, Little Wytherford Farm, John Charlton, Douglas Wooding, JW Wifle Works and Ashgrove School Of Motoring.”
