WEM Town host derby rivals Prees in a crunch Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Brewers go into the game on the back of their best win of the season with Wrockwardine Wood despatched 5-2 last week.

Manager Richard Hughes relished the prospect of the derby as his side looked to climb the table.

Hughes said: "We are looking forward to the derby clash against Prees, both sides like to try and play football so it should be an exciting end to end game.

"We are far more competitive of late so we go into game confident of grabbing a positive result.

"It's a six pointer so hopefully we will see a decent crowd."

Meanwhile Prees make the short trip knowing they need points to ease their own growing basement concerns after last week's draw with Shrewsbury Up and Comers,

A club spokesman said: "It is a huge derby game made even bigger by the need of both teams for points in a battle at the bottom.

"Prees sit two places and four points ahead of our opponents with four games in hand so a win would be vital for Prees to pull away from the bottom and push up the table."

Meanwhile Wem will also be looking to avenge an early season league defeat.

Manager Matty Owen said: “We travel to Wem with a depleted squad which we’ve had to deal with for the majority of the season but we are looking forward to the test on derby day and we must get back to winning ways.

"The boys are well up for it and we are fully confident of coming away with all three points.”
