AROUND 300 people turned out in Wem at the weekend for the town's 10K event.

The race, organised by UK Adventure Challenges, saw runners traverse the town's streets, before heading out into the Shropshire countryside and back into Wem.

Event organiser Justin Klekot said was positive in his appraisal of the event.

He said: "It went really well, we had 300 runners in the end who completed the race.

"Everyone seemed the enjoy it, it all went well and we got a lot of good feedback after the race."

Meanwhile a spokesman for Go Rouge Fitness, of which Garbutt is a coach, said they were proud of all those who took part.

In a social media post they said: "So proud of everyone today.

"Thanks to the Rogue Runners team for doing a great job at Wem 10K.

"For some, this was their first 10K and they smashed it with a smile on their face.

"Some personal bests out there today as well.

"Coach Tom took the overall win, with Milly finishing top five."
