WEM Town Ladies have suffered a double blow in the space of a week.

Manager Lawrence Wilson has stepped down having played a key role in the club's climb to to the FA Women's National League fourth tier.

A club spokesman said: "The club would like to thank Lawrence for his efforts and hard work over the years and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours."

Wilson - also the manager of Ardal North East League side Llanfair United - said: "It has been a pleasure and have loved every minute of it. I wouldn’t change anything and won’t be a stranger."

Meanwhile the Shropshire club has also paid tribute to Laura Pennington who has departed to join Tranmere Rovers.

A club spokesman added: "A massive loss for us as the brilliant Laura Pennington signs closer to home.

"Thanks for your hard work and dedication over the seasons. We would like to wish both Laura and Tranmere good luck for the season ahead."

Pennington's departure follows Helen Evans' exit with the winger joining Ardal Genero side Aberystwyth Town.
