WEM Swimming Centre is back in action thanks to the installation of a vital piece of a equipment.

In May the pool was forced to close thanks to a broken boiler, with repairs expected to last two weeks.

But the closure lasted around a month and a half, with a long waiting time on new parts, which need to be manufactured and shipped from Sweden.

The new parts are expected to arrive towards the end of June, but fortunately for swimmers a temporary boiler has been fitted until the new one arrives.

A spokesman for the pool said thanks to the stand-in boiler, sessions would resume from Monday, June 14.

"We have had a temporary boiler fitted, which will heat the pool until our new burner arrives," said the spokesman.

"We will start our timetable from Monday, June 14, until then we will run a revised timetable.

"We are very excited to welcome you back."
