A hit TV series is set to return to the BBC this summer after 35 years.
Bergerac was a police drama series set in Jersey, starring John Nettles as DS Jim Bergerac, which ran for nine series on the BBC from 1981 to 1991.
The series returned in 2025 on UKTV with a new reboot series featuring Damien Molony in the lead role.
The reboot also stars Zoë Wanamaker (as Charlie Hungerford), Robert Gilbert (Barney Crozier), Chloé Sweetlove (Kim Bergerac), and Pippa Haywood (Margaret Heaton).
The Bergerac reboot returned for a second series in April.
The new series has received positive reviews from viewers, with a score of 6.6 stars (out of 10) on IMDb.
One fan, commenting after the first series, said: "I have fond memories of the original with the gorgeous John Nettles (before he moved to Midsomer), so there is always a bit of anxiety regarding a remake.
"However, this Bergerac, with the mesmerising Damien Moloney is a different deal altogether. The general feel is much darker and less of a glossy travelogue for Jersey.
"Making Charlie into mother in law instead of father in law also works well and gives an interesting layered relationship.
"Philip Glenister is, as always, terrific, he exudes menace in a solid performance, showing the dark side of the super rich and the corruption they take for granted. (Then again, I have never seen a bad performance from him!)
"Have just binged this and can't wait for the next season!"
Another added: "Those expecting the "old" Bergerac will likely be disappointed. Gone is the pleasant John Nettles persona replaced by a darker, more troubled characterisation of the titular character, by the excellent, Damien Molony.
"There are neat nods to the original series - the classic Triumph car, the wonderful Jersey scenery and the troubled detective and several other (reinvented) characters.
"A strong supporting and guest cast, including Zoe Wanamaker, Philip Glenister and Pippa Haywood, adds wonderfully to a narrative full of intriguing plot twists."
Bergerac to return to the BBC after 35 years
The first two series of the Bergerac reboot are currently streaming on U&Drama.
But after 35 years, Bergerac is set to return to the BBC this summer, Alex Jones revealed on The One Show last week while speaking with Molony.
BBC Drama confirmed series one of Bergerac would be "available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Two this summer".
