Year 7 pupils at Lakelands Academy have been given a free book to enjoy over the summer holidays thanks to the generosity of Ellesmere Rotary.
The initiative, which is running for a second consecutive year, saw every Year 7 student receive a brand-new book through the Rotary Books4Home project.
The scheme was organised by Rotarian Beverley Ricketts, with the books collected and delivered by Jenny Davies, chairman of Youth Services.
The books were handed out just before the end of term, allowing pupils to take them home and enjoy reading during the summer break.
Helen Gordon, librarian at Lakelands Academy, welcomed the donation.
She said: "It has been lovely sending our students away for the summer holidays with a brand-new book to read.
"The donation of books is much appreciated.
"It is really a lovely thing to be able to do this for our students."
Ellesmere Rotary said it was pleased to continue its partnership with the school and support reading for pleasure among young people.
The club hopes the project will help encourage pupils to pick up a book during the holidays and develop a lifelong love of reading.
