Dozens of people have lost their jobs after a steel fabricator near Whitchurch entered administration.

Workers at Stelex Engineering Ltd, based in Prees, have been made redundant after the company ceased trading earlier this year.

Stelex was founded in 2004 and employed over 50 people manufacturing "high quality steel products."

Alvarez and Marsal has been appointed as the administrator for the company and they have confirmed that Stelex had ceased trading before entering administration and that all of the staff had been made redundant.

Information shared with the Herald suggests that the company had failed to find a buyer before it entered administration at the end of last month.

A notice was issued in the London Gazette in May by Bradford firm, Barrett Steel, who claimed to be a creditor.

Barrett Steel had applied in the high court to have the company wound up.

Alvarez and Marsal have refused to comment further on the state of affairs of the company.
