Shropshire firefighters called to unattended camp fire

Firefighters were called out in Ellesmere on Sunday morning after a camp fire was left unattended.

A crew from the town was called out to Swan Hill, in the area of The Mere, shortly before 7am on Sunday, June 21, after the fire was left unatteIt wanded.

They used buckets of water to put out the fire.

It was the second callout of the day for Ellesmere, having also been called to deal with a car fire in Oswestry in the early hours of the morning. Details of that incident have yet to be confirmed.

A message on Ellesmere Fire Station's Facebook page read: "At 06:50 the crew were mobilised to reports of a fire in the open in the area of the Mere in Ellesmere.

"The fire was a deliberate burn in a small area of the main footpath.

"Crews used buckets of water to extinguish the fire."
