A Shropshire football club wants to be able to stay open late and sell alcohol.

Whitchurch Alport has submitted a new premises application, which Shropshire Council’s licensing team will consider.

The Midland Football League Premier Division side – who finished 11th in the 2025/26 season – wants to be allowed to be open from 10am to midnight Monday to Thursday.

This would extend to 12.30 on Fridays and Saturdays, while on Sundays, the opening hours will be 10am to 11pm.

Being able to supply alcohol to be consumed both on and off the premises is also part of the application, as is the provision of late night refreshments, recorded music, and films.

The football club, based in Black Park Road, also want to be allowed to have additional hours on Sundays ahead of Bank Holiday Mondays, and the day of a senior team winning a competition.

Anyone who wishes to make a representation about the application can do so by July 8.

Any comments must relate to any of the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, the prevention of public nuisance, and the protection of children from harm.

You can use the online form that is available via shropshire.gov.uk/licensing

Representations can be made in writing to Licensing Team, Public Protection, Shropshire Council, Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY2 6ND. Or you can email licensing@shropshire.gov.uk
