A man sent explicit images of his genitals and asked three women to have sex with him in what a court heard was a “stupid drunken escapade” following the breakdown of his relationship.
Neil Evanson, 40, sent the WhatsApp messages in the early hours of August 14, 2024. The court heard his actions had a “profound impact” on the women, with one victim saying the messages triggered memories of past sexual violence and led to nightmares and panic attacks.
Evanson, of Station Road, Wem, changed his pleas to guilty in September last year to sending photographs and videos of his genitals, as well as indecent messages.
Telford Justice Centre heard on Wednesday, June 10, that the three women knew the defendant.

One woman said she woke to messages from Evanson, including a link which showed a preview image of a penis and a video of him playing with it. She later told police the incident left her feeling “very anxious” about leaving her flat and concerned for her personal safety.
Another victim said Evanson messaged saying he wanted to film himself having sex and wanted her to watch. When she questioned him, he told her she “needs to see it” before sending further images, including one of a topless woman and another in underwear, which the court heard implied she should join him.
He asked the victim to quit her job and make videos with him, and also ranked her colleagues based on 'fitness' telling her that he was "just horny, not drunk".
A third woman said she was “shocked” to receive messages asking her for sex and could not believe he thought it was acceptable.
Judge Deni Mathews said the messages were “relatively short-lived and spontaneous” and arose from a personal crisis but stressed they had still had a serious impact on the victims.
The court heard Evanson had two previous convictions, though none for similar offences, and had previously received a caution for sexual intercourse with a girl under 16.

In mitigation, Robert Edwards said his client had been waiting a “considerable period of time” for sentencing after pleading guilty last year. He described the offences as a “very misguided” attempt to get back at his former partner while intoxicated.
He added that Evanson has mental health issues, is autistic and has ADHD, and may struggle to understand other people’s perspectives, though he had shown some insight into the harm caused.
Evanson was handed an 18-month community order, extended from the 12 months recommended by probation to “properly address and prevent any risks happening again”.
He will also be placed on the sex offenders register for five years and ordered to pay £1,000 in court costs.
