Art lovers gathered for a special evening at the launch of a popular exhibition.

The Ellesmere Art Exhibition opened at Ellesmere College in support of Nightingale House Hospice, with a VIP preview night held on Wednesday, May 27.

Guests were treated to a first look at the artwork.

The exhibition began with speeches from Jonathan Shaw, headmaster of Ellesmere College, Lauren Emberton, chief executive of Nightingale House Hospice, and hospice nurse Alison Tiffen.

Each emphasised the important role the hospice plays in supporting patients and families across the region.

Lauren Emberton, chief executive of Nightingale House Hospice, said: "This exhibition is a wonderful celebration of creativity, community, and compassion.

"We are incredibly grateful to the artists, Ellesmere College, and everyone involved for supporting the hospice in such a meaningful way.

"The artwork on display is truly stunning, and we would encourage anybody to come along over the next few days to experience it for themselves."

The exhibition features a wide variety of artwork, with pieces ranging in value from £60 to £24,000.

It includes everything from abstract collages and landscape watercolours to sculptures in Carrara marble and bronze.

Proceeds from all sales will go towards supporting the hospice’s work.

Stephen Mullock, director of external relations at Ellesmere College, said: "Ellesmere College is delighted to partner with Nightingale House Hospice to host this year’s Art Exhibition and to welcome so many talented artists and supporters to our campus.

"The exhibition is not only a celebration of creativity and artistic excellence, but also a powerful example of community coming together to support the vital work of Nightingale House Hospice.

"We are proud to play our part in helping raise both awareness and funds for such an important local charity."

The Ellesmere Art Exhibition is open to the public from Thursday, May 28 to Saturday, May 30.

It is open daily from 11am to 7pm at Ellesmere College.

Entry is free, though visitors are welcome to make a voluntary donation to support the hospice.

Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, relying on fundraising, donations, and income from events such as the Ellesmere Art Exhibition.
