Emergency services were called to a major north Shropshire road this morning (Saturday, May 16) after a tree fell onto a cable.

The incident on the A49 at Lee Brockhurst happened just after 8am and left a cable arching, which caused a small fire.

One fire crew from Prees attended and used a hose reel jet to put out the blaze.

They were joined by West Mercia Police officers.

Engineers from a utility company were also called to the scene.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Small fire involving electricity cable affected by fallen tree."
