A town’s award scheme will soon shine a light on the achievements of its young people.
The new Young Ellesmerian Award Scheme will recognise the positive contributions of young people in Ellesmere as part of a wider focus on community engagement by the town council.
Cllr Pete Jones, who was made Mayor of Ellesmere earlier this week, said he was "delighted" the council would be launching it.
He said: "I am also keen to acknowledge the significant contribution made by our young people and am delighted that we are launching the new Young Ellesmerian Award Scheme, which will recognise and celebrate achievements and positive impact within the community."

Having moved to Ellesmere about seven years ago, Cllr Jones said: "From the outset, we have been made to feel welcome and very much at home."
He said: "As mayor, I am committed to being active, visible, and approachable.
"I feel that the town council and the mayor have an important role in providing representation and a voice for all residents, particularly those who may feel unheard."
To support this, Cllr Jones announced the return of community surgeries where residents can meet informally, share views, and provide feedback.
He said his focus for the year will be on supporting, celebrating, and championing the voluntary, sporting, religious, and community organisations that contribute to Ellesmere’s strong sense of community.
Cllr Jones said: "During my time on the town council, I have had the privilege of working alongside a number of outstanding mayors, from whom I have learned a great deal.
"I have big boots to fill, but I am honoured to accept this responsibility and to serve the town with dedication and humility."
