Crews called to HGV and car crash on A528 near Ellesmere

Emergency services were scrambled to a crash between a lorry and a car near Ellesmere.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed that their crew from Baschurch were called out to the A528 near Burlton, outside of Ellesmere, this morning (May 11).

They were joined at the scene by teams from West Mercia Police and the West Midlands Ambulance service after receiving reports of a road traffic collision at 9.26am.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the crew were called to the incident to make the vehicles safe and clear up fuel that had spilled on the carriageway.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews responded to a report of a saloon vehicle and HGV involved in a road traffic collision. 

“Fire Service personnel made the saloon vehicle electrically safe and used the environmental grab pack to deal with a small fuel spillage. 

“The incident was left in the care of West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service.”

West Mercia Police confirmed that no one involved in the crash was injured.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 9.20am this morning (May 11) with a report of a collision on the A528, Burlton.

"Officers arrived to find a lorry and car involved. Thankfully, no injuries to report."
