Glenn Tilbrook – the unmistakable voice of Squeeze – brings his Spring 2026 solo tour to Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn on Wednesday, May 20.

More than forty years after he first answered Chris Difford’s ad and formed the band that became Squeeze, Tilbrook remains one of British pop’s most enduring and hard‑working performers.

From the band’s debut Packet of Three EP in 1977, he has been at the heart of a catalogue of classic songs, including Take Me I’m Yours, Cool for Cats, Up the Junction, Another Nail in My Heart, Tempted, Labelled with Love, Black Coffee in Bed and Hourglass. Those hits helped define albums such as Argybargy, East Side Story, Some Fantastic Place and Cradle to the Grave, securing Squeeze’s reputation as one of the UK’s most loved songwriting bands.

Since Squeeze’s initial split in 1998, Tilbrook has also carved out a parallel solo career, beginning with The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook in 2001 and Transatlantic Ping‑Pong in 2004.

He followed these with the high‑energy Pandemonium Ensues in 2009, recorded with touring band The Fluffers, and Happy Ending, a more personal set of songs about time, people and places that features contributions from his sons Leon and Wesley alongside long‑time collaborators Simon Hanson and Dennis Greaves.

In recent years his creative momentum has only increased, balancing Squeeze’s continued global touring and work on new material with a busy schedule of solo shows across the UK and the United States.

His Songbook‑style concerts see him reimagining Squeeze favourites, revisiting solo tracks and taking spontaneous requests, all delivered with trademark warmth, humour and accomplished guitar work. Whether alone with an acoustic guitar or fronting a full band, Tilbrook has established himself as a compelling live artist in his own right, in perfect counterpoint to Squeeze’s ongoing success as a major live draw.

Anyone who has seen him on stage will attest to his quick wit, easy rapport and a seemingly endless supply of sing‑along songs. From festival headline slots to intimate theatre dates, Tilbrook’s ability to connect with an audience – and to flip effortlessly from Squeeze staples to surprise covers – continues to mark him out as one of British pop’s most vital, life‑affirming performers.

Tickets for Glenn Tilbrook’s May 2026 shows, including his Theatre Severn date on Wednesday, May 20, are available from The Gig Cartel at www.thegigcartel.com.
