The owner of an acclaimed Whitchurch restaurant appeared on the popular Great British Menu last week.

James Sherwin, who runs Wild Shropshire, based in Green End, appeared on the popular BB2 show bidding to represent the Central region.

Unfortunately, he was knocked out in the first episode, which saw him take on three other chefs in producing a starter and a fish course.

But he suffered a challenging day in the kitchen and scored four out of 10 for his starter, and five out of ten for his fish course.

It meant he would not go through to the next two rounds – Main and Dessert, followed by Judging.

After being knocked out, James told the show: "Rough day. Brutal. I think it got in my head a little bit. Yeah, just a bad day."

You can still watch the episode by visiting BBC iPlayer and searching for Great British Menu, Series 21, Episode 7 'Central England: Starter and Fish'.

Wild Restaurant, which serves just 14 guests each night, received a prestigious Michelin Green Star last year – one of only 36 restaurants in the country to be recognised in that way.
