A Whitchurch man has lost his licence after he admitted drink driving.

Peter Slater, of Heathwood Road in Higher Heath, pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared at Telford Magistrates' Court last week.

The court was told that the 67-year-old had been driving an Audi A4 in Steel Heath on February 21, this year, when he was over the drink-drive limit.

A breathalyser test showed he had 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35ug.

Slater was handed an obligatory driving ban which will run for 20 months, however this could be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a drink-driving awareness course.

He was also fined £500, and must pay £85 court costs and a £200 victim surcharge.
