As well as being a former Citizen of the Year, she was a former town councillor, an enthusiastic member of Whitchurch Singers, and a leading supporter of the RBL, representing them at home and abroad.
She received the long service medal after being a member of the Whitchurch branch for more than 40 years and for being a standard bearer.
Rose was also made a 'Dame' by the Order of St Stanislas in Malta , a country she visited a lot.
She received one of the first Citizens of the Year in Whitchurch awards, receiving the accolade in 2017 in recognition of all she did for the town, which she first came to live in in 1971, a fact she previous told the Whitchurch Herald was “the best move I ever made.”
The honour also saw her switch on the town's Christmas lights that year.
